Peppers Planted

Yesterday I got all the peppers planted. There are 18 plants in total that I started Feb 25th. They were started two per cell and then later potted up to one per cell in these larger cell packs. This year I tried to pot up less and into smaller containers and it worked out well. Here are the varieties I am growing:

The seed for this group was shared by Granny. There are three Golden California Wonder and three Quadrato Rosso D'Asti. Both are sweet peppers.

Here we have six Big Chile II peppers which are an Anaheim type pepper. Heat with them is hit & miss and is quite mild when heat is present. I really liked them last year, good for green chili sauce & salsa.

The last group is a mix of three varieties. Two Ancho, two Pasilla Bajio and two Early Jalapeno. All hot peppers that are on the mild side.

  1. Your pepper plants look really good sized and you have a nice selection of varieties too. Isn't it fun to grow varieties from seeds given to you by other blogger friends? I dd a spring video garden tour last weekend, and I found myself mentioning you and your blogsite alot because peppered throughout the garden beds are various items you sent me the seed for! Annie's Granny had some mighty fine peppers last year so the seed she provided you is likely to be a winner.

  3. We're trying peppers in pots this year. Since the pepper plant is actually a shrub our plan is to move them into the greenhouse when it starts to get cold and see if we can keep them alive through winter.

I love peppers! We're doing 13 plants this year and I still don't think it's enough! LOL

  4. Mine will finally get to go out soon. They're spending their second night outside on the porch tonight. If the winds stay calm (or really, not gale-force) for a couple days, out they go!

  5. Nice selection of peppers! In my experience the heat in Anaheim peppers is dependent on drought and sunshine. So if you've got a good amount of cloudy days and rain they'll be mild. At least in my garden my peppers are much hotter when the weather is very sunny and dry.

  6. those peppers look nice and healthy. I must confess that I find their growing season much too long, and I don't grow them now. Good luck with yours.

  7. Nice color on the peppers! Mine are growing pretty tall, but they keep setting fruit and loosing it.

  8. Your peppers look really good. Mine looked great when I planted them outside. Then they got a bit stressed from all of the crazy weather. They look much better now though.

  9. Your pepper plants are looking healthy and happy. I've grown the Quadrato D'Asti peppers before and they are one of the best sweet bells I've ever grown, very productive and they taste great.

  13. You have a nice mix here. I have no idea what to expect when it comes to peppers. I'm wondering if i should place them under some row cover for added heat.
