I harvested all the leeks to make way for peppers. They were
planted last July, overwintered under poly and where harvested
last week. They have certainly been growing for a long time.

Little Gem Romaine. They were harvested this morning along
with everything below. They produce mini head which are perfect
for one per person. Their small size also makes for a quicker crop.

Pinetree Lettuce Mix. It offers a nice variety. Not really a
fan of mesclun mix so this is a good alternative.

love the different colours on the radishes. Are they a strong or mild rdish?
ReplyDeleteThose leeks are beauties! I intended to grow some again this year, but seemed to have forgotten them! The lettuces adn radishes are all nice specimens too. I like the smaller headed romaines as well. Fast growing is key to getting a good lettuce harvest and the smaller varieties have a leg up on that.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful harvest, Dan. I just love seeing the lettuce like that.
ReplyDeleteNice harvest Dan. I just love the Little Gem Romaine. It's one of my favorites and great for Ceasar Salad.
ReplyDeleteHow is the cat and does she have a name yet?
Very nice looking Little Gems. Mine were not so photogenic after slugs got into them. The radishes and leeks look good too!
ReplyDeleteThats a good harvest monday! Nothing Im growing is currently ready for harvest. So I'll just gaze with envy ;)
ReplyDeleteNice harvest. Those leeks look great. I just planted some last week and I hope they are quicker than 9 months!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to grow some of that little gem lettuce this fall. Since you had such great luck with it this past winter, I think I'll try this year as well.
ReplyDeleteI leeks have not been doing much of anything. I can't believe how long they take to grow! That's quite a commitment for one veggie.
Looks like a great harvest! Hopefully I'll have some space for veggies soon.
ReplyDeleteWere the leeks bolting at all? I think I'm going to try overwintering leeks and spinach next year. Maybe if I time it right, I'll miss the leek moth.
ReplyDeleteI second OG's comment. Your leeks are looking great ! I think Fall planting is the best way to avoid leek moth. Will try it this year. Nice harvest !
ReplyDeletegreat photos....I found a radish salad recipe I will be trying with those radishes... :)
ReplyDeleteIt's your soil that has me -- it looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteNice harvest Dan....I am also growing some Little Gem romaine...it is doing real well although not as big as yours yet...Have you grown this variety before?
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of mesclun mix either. I do love a mixed lettuce salad, but I like my leaves more mature. My Little Gems grew so well this year. They are so cute.
ReplyDeleteYea, those damn slugs can sure mess up a batch of beautiful radishes, They still taste great though. Hum... think I'll try that romaine.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Ron
