I harvested all the leeks to make way for peppers. They wereplanted last July, overwintered under poly and where harvested
last week. They have certainly been growing for a long time.
Little Gem Romaine. They were harvested this morning alongwith everything below. They produce mini head which are perfect
for one per person. Their small size also makes for a quicker crop.
Pinetree Lettuce Mix. It offers a nice variety. Not really afan of mesclun mix so this is a good alternative.
I also picked the row of easter egg radishes that were plantabout a month ago. They are a little bug eaten but nothing
a brush and knife can't fix.
love the different colours on the radishes. Are they a strong or mild rdish?
ReplyDeleteThose leeks are beauties! I intended to grow some again this year, but seemed to have forgotten them! The lettuces adn radishes are all nice specimens too. I like the smaller headed romaines as well. Fast growing is key to getting a good lettuce harvest and the smaller varieties have a leg up on that.

Very nice looking Little Gems. Mine were not so photogenic after slugs got into them. The radishes and leeks look good too!

ReplyDeleteI leeks have not been doing much of anything. I can't believe how long they take to grow! That's quite a commitment for one veggie.

ReplyDeleteWere the leeks bolting at all? I think I'm going to try overwintering leeks and spinach next year. Maybe if I time it right, I'll miss the leek moth.

ReplyDeleteNice harvest Dan....I am also growing some Little Gem romaine...it is doing real well although not as big as yours yet...Have you grown this variety before?
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of mesclun mix either. I do love a mixed lettuce salad, but I like my leaves more mature. My Little Gems grew so well this year. They are so cute.
