Large Meteor Falls In Edmonton , Alberta, Canada

I keep forgetting to post about this huge meteor that burnt up over the sky of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on November 20th. It was filmed on a police dash cam and a few other cameras. They have since found a few small pieces of it and were even offering a reward for finding the meteor. Below is a map of where it happened and a YouTube video with a loop of the different videos of it. It is quite a sight!

  4. LeighAnn - yes was very cool

Tina - the reward was $10,000 for the first piece found. Sounds like a gold run to me :-)

Rosemary - It would be amazing to see one it person.

  5. That is absolutely amazing. I have seen that video before - incredible!

Exactly 100 years ago near Tunguska, Siberia, a small fragment of an asteroid exploded in the atmosphere. Thousands of square miles of forest were incinerated or destroyed, but due to the low population of the area, no one was hurt.

Let's hope something similar doesn't happen today!

  6. parsec - Yes, that wouldn't be a good thing to happen now that the earth is up to something like 6.7billion people. It would be amazing to witness a meteor in person if it did not vaporize you though.

  7. Heck Dan, what you shared is close enough to me. However, give the location and yours, I think I'm closer to the crash site than you are. hehe. I had to show my wife. This is the first I heard of it. Amazing footage. Looked big to me. I've seen shooting stars before, but nothing that size.
