2011 Garden Plans

The weather has been pretty uncooperative this spring which gave me time to do some garden plans. Next week it is suppose to go back to seasonal so hopefully I can start doing some prep work outside.

Lower Beds

Middle Beds

Upper Beds

In addition to the beds I will be planting various containers including half barrels, hanging baskets and terracotta pots. Things that will be potted are Okra, Tomatillos, Potatoes and what ever else I can't find a spot for.

  1. I love how you plan for overflow. I always plan, but then the reality of life never matches what I actually have in hand. Sometimes it is too much, but sometimes too little.

  2. Daphne - I am usually pretty good at keeping to my plan. The only problem is when I over estimate bed size in my head. Those things will end up in overflow :-)

  3. So smart to have an overflow section. I sometimes end up with extra seedlings that I don't know what to do with. Usually I end up rearranging my carefully planned garden layout to accommodate them.

  4. You always amaze me with how well you utilize your garden space. Very inpsiring! I use pots and containers for overflow plantings and have been known to squeeze more plants into an area out of necessity than is optimal to deal with extra plants as well. :D

  9. Dan, you're a man after my own heart. If I've got a spot, I can put a pot there. Today the kids planted peas in their gardens, which are scraps from my SWC build project. Looking good man!

  10. This in inspirational planning. As we dont have a nasty winter like yours, I generally have an all year garden. This means I only get the chance to clear out parts of the garden at a time. I wish I was as confident in my plans as you are... This season (end of summer) I've had gaps where I thought the cucumbers, spinach, snow peas and lettuce were going to be. Now it's Autumn (fall), it's time to fill those gaps. Might take some inspiraton from your plan if thats OK?

  11. Nice that you have your plan on paper. Mine is in my head but even when I put it on paper I never seem to stick to it. Maybe it would help when the snow is gone to go out and measure the garden to know exactly what size it is.

  12. Nice plans - so organized!! Love the overflow idea.. after all, what veggie gardener doesn't end up with a bunch of excess plants/seeds..

  13. Overflow is a good idea although for me I'd already have the overflow planned out with some other seeds for something I'm sure. Actually giving away some plants soon that I grew as extras 'just in case' all of the seeds didn't germinate. I too have a plan somewhat like yours although i do not have the room you do. Wish I did!

I was wondering if anyone would like a button for Dan's blog. I have made one and he does not wish to put it on his blog....if you would like one just let him know and maybe I can get him to put it up...
