Harvest Monday
Here is my first harvest for 2011. Some bean sprouts grown in my Homemade Bean Sprouter. I don't grow these often mainly because it can take up to a week for them to be ready. They are really easy to grow though if you plan your stir-fry a week in advance.... They do taste extremely good compared to store bought sprouts. I find they have a much sweeter taste compared to the starchy/rancid store bought sprouts.

Neato!! What a spectacular harvest!!
ReplyDeleteThey look great. In fact you've just re-enthused me to get my sprouting jar out again. I started with great gusto when I first got the kits and they have been dormant for a couple of months. Your beautiful photo of sprouts was a good reminder! Mung beans are now soaking in a kitchen in Sydney!
ReplyDeleteHomegrown sprouts are definitely much more superior to the store bought variety.
ReplyDeleteWe eat a lot of mung bean sprouts but we've never tried by ourselves. Definitely will give a try see if it works for us.
ReplyDeleteNice sprouts!!
ReplyDeleteLovely to eat something you've grown at this time of year! (I'm reduced to leeks when I want home grown, but rhubarb will follow soon.)
ReplyDeleteNice sprouts Dan! I bet that stir fry was delicious!! I just don't think that I could eat store bought sprouts..yuk!
ReplyDeleteWhere you been keeping yourself? You used to be such a regular with your posts.
ReplyDeleteYummy - perfect for some homemade Pad Thai! I just bought some seed myself, but am a novice sprouter.. can't wait to enjoy my own too! Thanks for sharing..
ReplyDeleteThose sure look good. I keep saying I am going to start doing sprouts in winter and then never get around to it. I really need to refresh my knowledge on how to do it and get a start on it.
ReplyDeleteYour sprouts definitely look better than store bought! And much tastier too.
ReplyDeleteI like sprouts too. I never really plan that far in advance, but when they are ready it means it is stirfry night.
ReplyDeleteOh good reminder to get me to kick along and stick my sprouts in a jar! Your beansprouts look so delicious.
ReplyDeleteSoon you will be getting more goodies out of the garden!
ReplyDeleteperfect harvest and much healthier than in the market.
ReplyDeleteThat reminded me I bought a sprouter ages ago and never have used it. I think I'll go find it and give it a try. Thanks for sharing.
