I started making my first batch of wine tonight. Since starting to brew last fall I have made three batches of beer and a batch of hard cider. The only thing left is wine so I thought I would give it a go.
The kit makes a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc which is my favorite white wine. I am hoping it is really close to the Stoneleigh Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc that I prefer. If everything goes well there will be 30 bottles on Dec 8th which I will split with my Sister.

That is so cool! Did you grow your own grapes?
ReplyDeletemeemsnyc - no room for grapes unfortunately. I would try though if I ever have the room.
ReplyDeletevery cool. i love wine!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like a glass of home made wine. They rarely taste exactly like a bought wine but they have their own character.
ReplyDeleteI remember my mom making wine a couple times when I was a kid. I once picked a whole bunch of wild chokecherries and had her made wine out of them. I don't think that one turned out well.
ReplyDeleteThat's very adventurous. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how this turns out, Dan. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteDude, New Zealand sauv blancs and really buttery chards are the only whites I will drink. I hope it turns out super fantastic for you!
ReplyDeleteI love wine! It makes me relax.. I can't wait to your homemade wine.. :)
ReplyDeleteI love wine but I never thought of brewing it.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Dan, I knew it was just a matter of time.:) I will be botteling a batch of Green Apple Riesling the end of next week. John
ReplyDeleteMy folks used to make wind regularly when I was growing up. It was always an adventure - some of it was very good and some was very "yeasty" and not very good. I think it is fun that you are adventuring into this and even if this batch does not turn out as expected, you may be suprised at some of the beautiful successes you may have later.
ReplyDeleteOkay.. that was supposed to be WINE not "wind"! LOL! Of course, leaving it at "wind" makes my comment pretty funny to read. ;D
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool! Can't wait to see how it turns out.
ReplyDeleteoh, cool. good for you!
