Can you harvest these beans as soon as they swell in the pods but before they (and the pods) dry, to eat as shelled beans, or must they dry in the pods first? I assume you rehydrate them somehow when you actually cook/eat them at a later time? Thank you so much for your explanations!thyme2gardenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06512569281844698265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4359929230952480074.post-69331003262187426722010-07-20T20:31:24.429-04:002010-07-20T20:31:24.429-04:00Please help out this bean-newbie here. I was happily surprised, because I have let my garden go completely feral since April. I got pregnant and didn't have the energy to get out there. But happily, things survived without even being watered! Green beans are awesome that way.Jean Michelle Miernikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08971882597502010124noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4359929230952480074.post-13582177830453879092010-07-19T04:25:12.924-04:002010-07-19T04:25:12.924-04:00My soldier beans are just starting to swell - I di...My soldier beans are just starting to swell - I did enter them in the village show though, under 'any other vegetable' and came second - not bad considering they are a little under-ready!

There's something addictive about peas and beans isn't there?Kathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12841961223771293021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4359929230952480074.post-34313726913942717112010-07-19T02:55:20.546-04:002010-07-19T02:55:20.546-04:00Love the colour of those beans. The sugar snap peas are my favorite, you eat the pod and all so the harvest is larger.

Kitsapfg - I wish the purple beans would stay purple when you cooked them. I'm looking for some hot garlic's this year and purple ones.

Granny - I did start all the beans in the rootrainers.
