Tuesdays Photography

This weeks photography post is going to mainly focus on some spring wildlife photos I have taken in the country side in the past few weeks.

Here is a Red Winged Blackbird nest that I have been checking on weekly
for the past month. It went from four eggs to three babies and then to two
babies. On my last visit last weekend they had left the nest and there was
one dead one in the nest. I hope at least one of them made it.

Now to rap things up I will end with some photos of the broad beans in the garden. Both photos of the flowers and of pollinators in the plants. I sure hope these pollinators get working because I have yet to find one bean. I am guessing it must be because of the cold temperatures we have had the past few weeks which would have slowed down the pollinators. The seed for the broad beans below was graciously shared by Down on the Allotment.

Honey Bee, I have not seen many this dark before. Any ideas
on what kind of bee this is???

  5. That last pic of the dark bee might be a Mason Bee.

  6. I love the picture of the turtles on the log. I am also very impressed with how beautiful the crimson flowered broad bean blooms are. I am growing "Sunset" runner beans for the first time this spring and I am hoping they are as beautiful to look at as these are.

  7. Great photos! I personally like that snake! Perfect focus.

I was wondering if the dark bee is a wool carder bee? I get them in certain flowers. Can't remember if they like the favas. Here's a photo of mine ID'd by BugGuide.

  8. Gorgeous photos. The turtles are soooo cute ! The birds and the bees ... Fab, fab, fab. I can't get enough of the broad bean flowers, they're so beautiful. Great stuff, Dan.

That bee looks like a leaf-cutter bee to me.
